Eating Right Fats to Get rid of Your Fats in Your body

Are you sure? YES!

Not all fats are bad guys. In fact, our body need fats to rebuild cells and able to neutralize the acid in our body. We cannot live without it. Eating right fats will not only lower the cholesterol and blood pressure but also reduce the plaque in your arteries. Thus, the key point to make this diet work is to stay away from the bad fats and eat more good fats.

Different types of fats

Trans Fat (known as Trans-Fatty Acids)

  • Avoid it at all cost!
  • Formed when hydrogen is added to vegetable oil and convert it from liquid to a solid (eg. corn oil margarine)  in a process known as hydrogenation.
  • By heating polyunsaturated above 118 degrees Fahrenheit, trans fat will be formed. Any oil that is not cold - pressed is going to have trans fats.
  • Raise cholesterol levels, impair circulation and increase the risk of many degenerative diseases and age-related maladies.

Saturated Fat

  • Come from animal sources (like dairy, meat, poultry and eggs).
  • Includes vegetables  fats like coconut and palm oil.
  • Can fuel your body but cannot buffer acids
  • Change to trans fat once these saturated fat undergo a process of processing or cooking.
  • Can be consumed a small quantities as long as they are not hydrogenated or trans fats.

Monounsaturated Fat

  • Best choice for cooking as they can withstand heat above 118 degrees F .
  • The oils in olives and avocados are monounsaturated.
  • Canola and peanut oil is also touted for being monounsaturated provided they are label as "cold-processed" oil. Once they are processed with heat, they will contain trans fat - fats that everyone must avoid.

Polyunsaturated Fats

  • Should make up 20 to 40 percent of your caloric intake.
  • Best fuel for your body to generate energy
  • Help to lower cholesterol levels as they buffer acids in your body.
  • Examples are Omega-3 and Omega-6
