What is intermittent fasting (IF)?

Intermittent fasting (shortened as IF) is a pattern of eating for certain number of hours and then fast for certain number of hours. In short, IF is eat-stop-eat pattern.

Why IF works better than normal dieting?

We take our breakfast, lunch and dinner whether we are hungry or not. We tend to eat snacks and take soft drinks in between meals. Just before we go to bed, we would like a glass of milk or make ourselves a nice sandwich. We are eating all day long. No wonder it is difficult to fight off the weight.

When we talk about dieting, we expect LONG TERM hunger and suffering. When we plan to loose a few pounds, we expect a few months or even a year of hunger. Most of the time, we don’t know when we can stop dieting. It seems to be a life-long task. No wonder we resent dieting.

There are many ways to do IF. The way to start IF is to find a plan that suits your lifestyle. Below are some suggestions on how people do their IF. During the IF, you are allow to drink liquid intake like plain water and green tea as long as the liquid intake must not contain sugar. You can also drink Supergreens during the fasting.

  • Longer IF
    • Weekend fasting : You fast for 24 hours on your weekend. For example, you eat your dinner on Saturday night and start fasting until Sunday dinner time. Some people continue fasting till Monday breakfast time.
